Disability Area
- Association for Disabled People organized the 1st International Excellence Awards for Service to Disabilities at IIC, New Delhi 0n 23rd Aug 2017. The event was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Sh. Thawarchand Gehlot, Hon’ble Minister of MSJE.
- ADP organized the India-Afghanistan DPOs summit in New Delhi from 16-23 Dec 2016. Afghanistan DPOs delegation met Hon’ble Minister Sh. Thawarchand Gehlot.
- ADP’s Disabled Power Group’s 22 artists participated at the Republic Day Parade on 26th Jan 2013 in New Delhi, on the Tableaux of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. They run a disabled dance group on wheelchairs and have performed in many functions.
- ADP has been involved in Advocacy towards including a chapter on disability in the 11th Five Year Plan in 2006-2012.
- In 2009-2010: Advocacy towards convincing the Government of India to go in for a new disability law based on UNCRPD. As a result of this advocacy, the Govt. of India finally formed a Committee in April 2010 to draft a new law.
- We have participated in the National meeting for an amendment if on the Rights of Persons with Disabilites Act. 1995 in 2007 at the India Habitat Center New Delhi.
- ADP has worked towards building accessible public infrastructure and environment for persons with disabilities. With the help of numerous complaints to the Delhi Disability Commissioner Office, we have been successful in making several such Govt. and public building.
- ADP organized a State Workshop that covered several topics such as the Disability Movement, Accessibility, Education, Health, Sports, Employment, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill in New Delhi on 15- June 2013.
- ADP was involved in the advocacy for the Disability Rights Bill Movement in 2014 for passage of New Disability Rights Bill in the Parliament. ADP was also deeply involved in advocacy to pass the New Disability Rights Act 2016.
- ADP has been involved in advocacy towards the inclusion of children with disabilities in the Right to Education Act in 2009.
- ADP organized the meeting of Women with Disabilities from time to time.
- ADP has attended many National and International meetings and conferences for sports with several private and govt. entities, like CII, Ph.D. Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Sports, FICCI, etc.
